Q. What is XIMB?

A. XIMB – Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar is a Management Institute located in Orissa, the eastern region of India. This is amongst the best B – School that a country cherishes. Students from all corners try to grab admission to this Institute. The Institute has a great infrastructure, library, residential complex, labs and provides many other facilities to the students. XIMB has always made its place in the headlines of a newspaper. The Institute has been awarded A-3 Star Grading by CRISIL in its first B-School Ratings in 2011. XIMB offers admission to five AICTE approved courses of management and five certificate programmes. The five AICTE approved programs are as follows –

Q. What are the Eligibility Conditions of the programmes offered in XIMB?

A. The Eligibility Conditions of XIMB are –

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)

  1. Applicants should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized University
  1. Applicants must have secured minimum of 50% marks in graduation
  2. Final year students are also eligible

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (HRM) (PGDM-HRM)

  1. Applicants should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized University
  2. Applicants must have secured minimum of 50% marks in graduation
  3. Final year students are also eligible

Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDM – RM).

  1. Applicants should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized University
  2. Applicants must have secured minimum of 50% marks in graduation
  3. Final year students are also eligible

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM – PT)

  1. Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University
  2. experience as an executive in any organization of public, private or non – governmental sector.
  3. Applicants should have minimum of three years of work Self employed applicants should possess minimum of five years of work experience.
  4. Applicants should have completed 24 years of age

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

  1. Applicants with Masters Degree in any field are eligible with minimum of 55% marks.
  2. Engineer applicants are also eligible with minimum of 55% marks and two years of work experience.
  3. Applicants with letter grades should have secure 4.80 on an 8 point scale or 6.00 on a 10.00 point scale.

Executive Program for Working Professionals – EPWP

  1. Applicants should have one year of work experience
  2. Applicants should be a Graduate in any discipline form a recognized University.

Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Banking and Financial Services – PGPBFS

  1. Applicants should be a Graduate in any discipline form a recognized University.

Q. What are the exams required to undertake?

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) – Two Year Full Time Programme

Applicants have to take one of the two Admission Tests –

  1. XAT by XLRI
  2. CAT by IIMs

Applicants are shortlisted on the basis of the marks obtained in any one of the above tests. IIMs and XLRI have no role in the selection process.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (HRM) (PGDM-HRM) – Two Year Full Time Programme

Applicants have to take one of the two Admission Tests –

  1. XAT by XLRI
  2. CAT by IIMs

Applicants are shortlisted on the basis of the marks obtained in any one of the above tests. IIMs and XLRI have no role in the selection process.

Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDM – RM) – Two Year Full Time Programme

Applicants have to take one of the two Admission Tests –

  1. XAT by XLRI
  2. CAT by IIMs
  3. IRMA Test by Institute of Rural Management Anand

Applicants are shortlisted on the basis of the marks obtained in any one of the above tests. IRMA, IIMs and XLRI have no role in the selection process.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM – PT)

Applicants who are eligible will be called for Personal Interview

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

  1. Admission to this program is based on the following written test – CAT, XAT, GATE, UGC NET, or XIMB Research Aptitude Test (XIMB – RAT)
  2. Short listed applicants will be invited for an assessment of applicants’ research aptitude.

A. The Selection procedure to XIMB is

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM)

  1. The Institute will decide the section wise and total cut off marks which will be used to shortlist candidates for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. For the year 2009, XAT cut off for XIMB was 91 percentile. XAT cut off for XIMB 2011 is 96 percentile.
  1. Applicants short listed on the basis of XAT and CAT will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  2. Shortlisted candidates have to bear their own expenses to reach the venue for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  3. The final selection of the candidate depends on his performance in the written test, group discussion and personal interview.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (HRM) (PGDM-HRM)

  1. The Institute will decide the section wise and total cut off marks which will be used to shortlist candidates for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Last years cut off marks for this program was 80 percentile.
  1. Applicants short listed on the basis of XAT and CAT will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  2. Shortlisted candidates have to bear their own expenses to reach the venue for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  3. The final selection of the candidate depends on his performance in the written test, group discussion and personal interview.

Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDM – RM)

  1. The Institute will decide the section wise and total cut off marks which will be used to shortlist candidates for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Previous year XIMB cut off marks was 75.11 percentile. 
  1. Applicants short listed on the basis of XAT and CAT will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  2. Shortlisted candidates have to bear their own expenses to reach the venue for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  3. The final selection of the candidate depends on his performance in the written test, group discussion and personal interview.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM – PT)

  1. Candidates who are eligible will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  1. Shortlisted candidates have to bear their own expenses to reach the venue for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
  1. Screening for interview will be based on the applicants’ past academic record and relevant work experience.

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

  1. Applicants are shortlisted based on their entrance test, academic record and work experience.
  2. Shortlisted applicants will be called for an assessment of their research aptitude and preparedness for taking up doctoral level work in management.
  3. Applicants have to bear their own expenses but they will be provided local hospitality.
  4. For admissions in Operations Management, Decision Sciences and Information Systems GATE score is considered.

Q. How is the Placement at XIMB?

A. Placement at XIMB

Since its establishment in 1987, XIMB has always provided great placement to its students. The institute has focused in quality education which helps the student’s to brighten up the corporate world. Students have to go through various activities that brush up their skills and knowledge of their area of specialization. Institute has produced many managers and leaders who are making difference in the corporate world. In the previous years XIMB has made a 100% placement for its students. 2011 batch saw an average salary of Rs 10.76 lakhs per annum. More than 18% students have got pre placement calls from their Internship only. Companies like Deloitte, CRISIL, Tata Corp HR, Tata Steel, SBI, Cognizant; Godrej etc hire students from XIMB. Students who pass out from XIMB don’t have to look back. Hard work always leads to success. If the students’ input is 100%, XIMB will provide 200% output to its students.
