Applicants have to go through two phases of selection in UPSC CPF Assistant Commandant Examination. Successful candidates in first phase will be allowed to second phase of selection. The first phase is the written examination. The second phase will be of personality / interview test.
1. Written Examination
Written examination is in two papers, Paper I and Paper II. Candidates have to appear for both the papers. Both the examination will be conducted in one day. The first paper will held in the morning session and second paper will take place in the afternoon session.
Paper I – This paper comprises of Intelligence and General Ability. Total marks allotted to this paper are 250. There will be multiple choice questions. The question paper will possess the questions in two languages, Hindi and English.
Paper II – General Studies, Essay and Comprehension will be there in the second paper. The second paper is of 200 marks. Candidates have to show their language skills in the form of precis writing and by answering the comprehension questions in their own words.
Paper II of those candidates will be evaluated who get minimum qualifying marks in paper I.
2. Physical Standards / Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards
Candidates who qualify both the papers of written examination will be called for Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards. Below is the detailed list of activities that will be carried off in Physical Efficiency Test:
– 100 meters race for males in 16 seconds and for females in 18 seconds.
– 800 meters race for males in 3 minutes 45 seconds and for females in 4 minutes 45 seconds.
– 3.5 meters of long jump for males and they will get 3 chances only.
– 3.0 meters of long jump for females and they will also get 3 chances.
– 4.5 meters of shot put weighing 7.26 kgs for male candidates.
UPSC CPF Syllabus:
Paper I – Intelligence and General Ability
General mental ability; general science; current affairs of national and international importance; Indian policy and economy; history of India; Indian and world geography.
Paper II – General studies, Essay and Comprehension
Part A – Candidates have to answer this section in their own words. The answers should be long and narrative. The answers either be in English or Hindi. 80 marks are allotted for this part
Part B – This part has to be attended in English only. It contains precis writing, comprehension, grammar and other aspects of language testing. This part carries 120 marks.
