Reserved Seats: Seats are reserved for SC/ST, Govt. of India nominees; physically handicapped candidates of the States; Sons/Wards of Para-Military forces who have become permanently disabled or who have been killed during war/hostility.
Minimum Qualification: A candidate must have passed the 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education with Phy., Chem., Maths and English or an equivalent examination.
Age limit: He/She should not be over 21 years as on October 1 of the year of admission (relaxation by 3 years for SC/ST candidates).
Method of Selection : On the basis of merit in the joint Entrance Examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Examination to Engineering Degree Colleges on the subjects as detailed below:
Candidates from Andaman and Nicobar Islands seeking admission to RECs are not required to appear at JEE. They should apply on plain paper direct to the Principal of the College by May/June as per prospectus of the College Admission is made on the basis of merit at the qualifying exam.
How to apply: Candidates from Bengal seeking admission to the seats allocated for such candidates in REC Durgapur and in 15 other REC’s are not required to submit any application from until they have been selected for admission through JEE.
Regional Engineering College, Durgapur will select the candidates from West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands for admission to the seats allocated for such candidates, if any, in all the 16 Regional Engineering Colleges.
Candidates selected for admission to Regional Engineering College Durgapur or to the other 15 Regional Engineering Colleges in India will be issued, at the time of their selection, an offer of admission and an Application form free of charge.
