IIMC – Well Known Institution for Mass Communication




Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is Govt. of India sponsored institution; which is well known in the field of Mass Communication. It came in existence on 17th August 1965 with supporting hand of UNESCO; since then IIMC witnessed so many glorious yrs. As you know that IIMC comes under the ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the courses and training process got the nod universally. IIMC has two campuses in India; first one is in New Delhi and second one is in Orrisa. The Orrisa campus surfaced in 14th August 1993 at the location of Dhenkanaal (Orrisa).

Training programme or Courses which are conducted by IIMC: –

1)    Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism: – This course is conducted in three languages as English, Hindi and Oriya. The period of course is for one yr. Candidates who completed his or her Graduation may choose this course; however, candidates of final yr may also apply for the course.

2)    Post Graduate Diploma in Radio and T.V Journalism: – This course is available in English and Hindi both languages. The period of course and educational qualification is as same as above mentioned.

3)    Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising and Public Relation: – This course can be done in one yr of time; candidates who completed Bachelor degree or in final yr are liable for the course.

Apart from the course above mentioned some other courses in form of short term courses and courses for staff of central govt. also on the card. IIMC also organized workshop or Seminar time to time as awareness initiative.

Admission Process: –

Candidates who seek for admission will have to face entrance examination followed by Group Discussion and Personality Test.

Seats availability in the courses along with venue:

Journalism (English) 40 seats in each venue at New Delhi and Dhenkanaal (Orrisa)

Journalism (Hindi) 40 seats at New Delhi

Journalism (Oriya) 40 seats at Dhenkanaal (Orrisa)

Advertising and Public Relation 45 seats at New Delhi

Radio and TV Journalism 30 seats at New Delhi
