GATE – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all India examination dispensed and organized jointly by 07 Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science on behalf of the National Co-ordination Board – GATE, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Department of Higher Education.
Online applications have been invited from willing and eligible candidates for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) – 2012. More information of this advertisement are as follow:

The constitution of 08 zones conduct Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The zones and corresponding administering institutes are given below:
Zone 1 – Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru
Zone 2 – Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
Zone 3 – Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
Zone 4 – Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
Zone 5 – Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Zone 6 – Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
Zone 7 – Indian Institute of Technology Madras
Zone 8 – Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee
The overall obligation and responsibility of organizing GATE – 2012 lies with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, designated as the Organizing Institute for GATE 2012.
Eligibility Criteria for GATE:
The candidates, who have following educational qualification are suitable to appear for GATE:
i) Graduate in Engineering / Architecture / Technology and appearing candidates who are in the final year of such programme.
ii) Post Graduate in any branch of Mathematics / Science / Statistics / Computer Applications or its equivalent and appearing candidats.
iii) Post Graduate in Science in Technology or Engineering.
iv) Candidates have qualifications obtained through organized by professional societies which are recognized by AICTE / UPSC.
Application fees: Rs. 1000/- for OBC and General category candidates and Rs. 50/- for SC/ST/PD category candidates.
How to apply for GATE: Desirable and suitable candidates may apply for GATE-2012 only through online application. In GATE 2012, candidates need to register and fill the application on-line through accessing the GATE websites of 07 IITs and IISc. The candidates should fill the online application carefully and appropriately. After complete the online process, the candidate must take a hard copy of the filled online application and sent it with the signature of candidate, a good quality photo affixed in the appropriate place to GATE office along with needed documents on or before last date.
Note: The sale of application forms for GATE through GATE office counter and banks have been discontinued.
i) Both Online and Offline examinations will be organized for GATE 2012.
ii) GATE Scorecard will be issued to qualified candidates.
iii) The card is valid for 02 years from the date of announcement of the GATE 2012 results.
iv) The candidates can download admit card from the zonal GATE websites only. The process of sending admit card by post has been discontinued.
