Gangotri is the source of holy river Ganga. It is situated in Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand. This is one of tha Char Dham(four dhams). Here is a temple situated on the left bank of Bhagirathi. It is said that Raja Bhagirath worshiped here Lord Shiva at the pious stone. There is also a Shivlinga submerged in water of Ganga. The Ganga descended here into the matted lock of Lord Shiva, It is believed.
A Gorkha general OF Nepal Amar Singh Thapa built this temple in 18th century. Later, the ruler of Jaipur renovated it in 20th century.

1. The nearest airport is at Jolly Grant, which is 266 kms away from Gangotri.
2. The nearest railway station is at Rishikesh, 249 kms away from Gangotri.
3. Gangotri is well connected by roads with Rishikes, Haridwar and Delhi.

It is the place, from where the Ganga (Bhagirathi) rises. It is a great important place for pilgrims. People trek from Gangotri to Gaumukh.
Here is the temple of Bharavnath. This temple is among thick forests. This is 10 kms away from Gangotri.
This is a lake. This is beautifully surrounded by spectacular peaks. The scene is charming.
