 BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY (BHU) PMT




One of the most prestigious universities in the country BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY (BHU) was founded by Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya in the year 1916. It is the largest residential university in Asia. The inception of the college of medical sciences marked the starting of medical education in BHU. It has a state of art infrastructure and facilities. it aims in producing the best doctors in the world.

BHU conducts an all india entrance level examination in two phases for admitting potential and deserving candidates in undergraduate programs.

BHU UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

  • MBBS COURSE

Total no. of students – 88(including 4 foreign nationals)

Course duration –  four and half years followed by a compulsory internship of one year.

  • BAMS  COURSE

Total no. of students – 78 (including 3 foreign nationals)

Course duration –  four and half years followed by a compulsory internship of one year.

  • BDS COURSE

Total no. of students – 88(including 4 foreign nationals)

Course duration – five years.

  • B.Pharma

Total no. of students – 33

BHU PMT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate should have passed the Intermediate Science/Pre-Medical course/10+2 or equivalent examination from any national board or state level board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
  • The candidates should have achieved minimum 50% marks for general category, a minimum of 45% for general-PC and minimum of 40%marks for OBC in MBBS/BAMS/BDS courses. In case of B.Pharma, the candidate should have achieved a minimum of 60%(OBC/GENERAL)and 55%(SC/ST)
  • The candidate appearing for10+2 in 2012 must fulfill their eligibility by 30th June 2012 failing which will lead to the disqualification of their candidature.
  • If the candidates fails to submit the require documents or fails to achieve the qualifying marks, the candidate will be deemed to be disqualified.
  • Candidates studying in any professional course in BHU or any other university/institution are not eligible to appear in PMT.
  • The candidate must have completed the age of 17yrs and not crossed the age of 25 yrs as on 31st December of the year of taking entrance examination.

BHU PMT APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  • The application form can be obtained by sending a request to –The Director (PMT-cell), Institute of medical sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221005. The request must enclose the following:-
  1. A crossed DD/banker’s cheque of Rs.1300/-(Rs.900 for SC/ST) including postal charges from a nationalized bank drawn in favor of  The Director(PMT-cell), Institute of medical sciences, BHU payable at Varanasi.
  2. Two paper slips/stickers of 10cm X 6cm on which the address of the candidate is clearly mentioned.
  3. A request letter on an A4 sized sheet including all the DD/banker’s cheque details. The envelope should be super scribed “Request for application form for PMT 2012 BHU”.
  • The application can also be obtained from Bank Of Baroda at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bhopal, Patna, Mumbai, Chennai and Bhubaneswar on payment of Rs.1200(Rs.800 for SC/ST) in cash.
  • The completed application forms must be sent to The Director(PMT-cell), Institute of medical sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221005.

BHU PMT RESERVATION OF SEATS

  • General-47.5%
  • OBC(non-creamy layer)-27%
  • SC-15%
  • ST-7.5%
  • Physically handicapped-3%

BHU PMT SCREENING

  • The BHU PMT Screening will be held on the 2nd Sunday of May in four centers in India from 9:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. in only one shift. The centers are Varanasi, Kolkata, Delhi and Hyderabad.
  • The question paper will either be in Hindi or English.
  • The examination consists of 200 MCQ’s and carries a total of 200 marks.
  • The minimum qualifying marks is 50% for general, 45% general-PC and 40% for OBC/SC/ST and their respective PC categories.

 

BHU PMT MAINS

  • The BHU PMT MAINS will be held on the 2nd Sunday of June in only Varanasi center.
  • The question paper will only be in English.
  • The examination consists of 200 questions divided into two sections of 100 questions each. The 1st section will be of MCQ’s and the 2nd section will have multiple choice questions.
