Medical Fitness Test : The candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass requisite medical fitness test (s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff. Candidates are not eligible for any alternative appointment if they fail in the final medical examination conducted by the Railways before appointment, for any reason. The medical standards for different categories are outlined below. A-1 Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distance Vision : 6/6, 6/6 without glasses with fogging test (must not accept + 2D) Near Vision : Sn: 0.6, 0.6 without glasses (must clear fogging Test). Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present. A-2 Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standard – Distance Vision: 6/ 9, 6/9 without glasses. Near Vision : Sn: 0.6, 0.6 without glasses Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present. A-3 Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distance Vision : 6/9, 6/9 with or with out glasses. Near Vision : Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or with out glasses Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present. B-1 Physically fit in all respects Visual Standards – Distance Vision : 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses. (Power not to be exceed +/-4D) Near Vision : Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision & Night Vision must be present. C-1 Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards – Distance Vision : 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses. Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required. C-2 Physically fit in all respects, Visual Standards – Distance Vision : 6/12, Nil with or without glasses. Near Vision : 0.6 combined with or without glasses when reading or close work is required. Note : (a) The above medical standards (criteria) are indicative and not exhaustive and apply to candidates in general. (b) For Ex-Servicemen, different standards apply. (c) Candidates applying for the post of Assistant Station Master & Asstt. Loco Pilot should enclosed medical certificate from a Registered Eye Specialist as per prescribed format. Candidates are advised to read carefully and follow the instructions given in the Employment Notice.
